Having grown up in Northern Vermont, Jay Peak has always been a huge part of my life. I started skiing there around the age of 4. Throughout high school and college, my friends and I were constantly out on the slopes. Ski Patrol was always something that interested me. In 2015, I made the decision to join. I’ve loved my time as a patroller ever since and being able to give back to the mountain that has meant so much to me over the years.
Another perk of patrolling I quickly discovered is being out on the slopes early in the morning for trail check and late into the evenings for sweep. In these windows of time, nature presents some of the most stunning scenes and beautiful golden hour light. Patrolling also forces you out onto the hill in conditions and weather that would otherwise be a hot cocoa day. These types of conditions can make for very unique images compared to good weather days.
